Photos and receipts have been supplied by officials at the Hengdong SWI in order to document the use of our Hengdong Charity Fund contributions that assisted their new orphanage building construction project.
In summary, we raised about $10,000 for three projects in the new orphanage building: new cribs, two furnished activity rooms, and furnishings for a kitchen and dining area. Copies of receipts received and transalated by Chinese Children Adoption International (CCAI) indicated that 30 cribs with bedding were purchased along with items like those initially proposed for the two other projects.
The photos show that the items purchased and accounted for by the receipts were indeed used for the orphanage. Moreover, they show that our contributions helped to build a very nice facility that, as we had hoped, was built with children in mind, which is a huge positive change. (The old building was very bad.)
Once again, a special thank you goes to everyone who contributed to these projects or otherwise offered their support. Our arrangement to help with the new orphanage building though these projects and our insistence on regular project updates thereafter may have helped convince provincial and local government officials to follow through on their construction plans. This concludes our work for now.
Hengdong SWI Director Xiang Zhen Xin has reported that the new orphanage building is complete and all of the children have been moved in. The move is said to have taken place in the later part of October.
