Hengdong Charity Fund: Order Your Calendars Now: Treasures from Hengdong

Donations to the Hengdong Charity Fund were used for projects supporting for improvements at the Hengdong Social Welfare Institute (SWI), a struggling orphanage in southeastern Hunan Province, China.

The Hengdong Charity Fund was established in 2005 by parents of adopted children from the Hengdong SWI.

This web site is intended to provide information about the fund and how its proceeds have been applied.

The Hengdong Charity Fund was a special Hengdong account set up as part of the larger Chinese Children Charities Fund (CCCF). Donations were tax deductible and 100% went go to orphanage help, as CCCF administrative costs are covered from other sources.

Donations to this account were directed toward projects proposed by the orphanage but selected to provide direct benefit to the children at the Hengdong SWI.

Order Your Calendars Now: Treasures from Hengdong

Fundlogo_3_2 Families with adopted children from the Hengdong SWI have gathered photographs of their children for a special calendar, and all proceeds from the sale of this beautiful gift will go to the Hengdong Charity Fund. The theme of this 2006 calendar is, appropriately, Treasures from Hengdong.

Each calendar costs $12.50 plus postage, and each will generate $5 for the Hengdong SWI. For information about how to order copies simply email charity fund board member Erica Wade-Loop. To receive copies in plenty of time to mail them to friends and family before Christmas, place your orders before December 1. But the calendars will make great gifts well into the New Year too.

New Orphanage Construction

These photos were taken in early spring 2007 by orphanage staff and show the construction of the new orphanage building for the Hengdong SWI in its early stages. Construction has since been completed.
